Colombian-born designer Juan Montoya is noted for his ability to blend elements of various cultures within his home constructs; a trademark style of shaping modernist features around antiquities and social themes, all the while paying close attention to structure, texture and volume. That unique style is on full display in Panama City, Florida, where one of Montoya’s custom designs has been listed for $1.3 million.

Clad in wood paneling with a Hickory tree, said to be the second oldest in Florida, expanding over it, the two-story home sits tucked away in the Old City, or, as the locals call it ‘Casco Viejo’, in walking distance from Saint Andrew Bay. The interior is simple, open and elegant, and is tailored to showcase the owner’s collection of art and antiques. It has four bedrooms and four baths, and offers nearly 4,900-square-feet of living space with glass touches, hardwood flooring, custom millwork and impressive arched-wood ceilings.

The flowing first-level features a contemporary gourmet kitchen, office, study and general living spaces of the home.  The second-floor master suite, which features a circular bay window and custom bath, enjoys views to the south via a private balcony. An extended, covered patio features an outdoor dining area, while adjacent to the home is a sizeable swimming pool.

The listing is presented by Jeff “Know Payne, Know Gain” Payne of The Payne Group.
