Inside the Shansby’s Shanel

We were delighted to see Carolyne Zinko’s feature on Shanel, the 362-acre Sonoma estate that Gary Shansby and wife O.J. Shansby purchased in 1990.
The name has an interesting origin — it’s a combination of their surname and the name of Sonoma Indian tribe. “And not after one of the other things I love,” she told Carolyne — referring to Chanel, which O.J. wears almost exclusively.
